The short answer. The Samsung Frame shows art in Art Mode, and it will show your own pictures if they are 3840 × 2160 pixels, 16:9. Every piece I make is exactly that size, so it fills the Frame edge to edge with no border. Get the files onto the TV from a USB stick or from the SmartThings app on your phone, pick the pieces, and the Frame rotates through them when the TV is off.
What the Frame needs from a file
3840 × 2160 pixels, 16:9. JPG or PNG. Anything smaller gets stretched and goes soft; anything another shape gets a border or a crop. Mine are 3840 × 2160 PNG, which is why they look like they were made for it. They were.
Way 1, a USB stick
Nothing to sign up for, and your files are not uploaded or shrunk.
- Copy the art onto a USB stick.
- Plug the stick into the TV.
- Press Power twice to reach Art Mode, then My Collection, your USB device, pick the pieces, Save Selected.
Way 2, the SmartThings app
Better if you want to add pieces from your phone without getting up.
- Save the pieces to your phone's photos.
- Open SmartThings, choose your Frame, then Art Mode.
- Add your photos, pick the pieces, upload. They land in My Collection.
The menus move a little between model years. If yours looks different, look for My Collection or Add Photos.
Make it a slideshow
In Art Mode, open the pieces you saved and choose Slideshow. Pick how often it changes. I leave mine on a few hours so the room changes through the day.
