The short answer. I am Hawaiian. My family is from Oʻahu, I was raised in Texas, and I live in Kuwait. Dreamy Hawaii is twenty-nine places, island by island. Oʻahu: Waikīkī Beach with Lēʻahi behind it, ʻIolani Palace, Hanauma Bay, Makapuʻu, the Nuʻuanu Pali, Haleʻiwa and the North Shore, the King Kamehameha statue, Mauna ʻAla. Maui: Haleakalā, the Hāna Highway, Hoʻokipa, ʻĪao Valley, Waiʻānapanapa. Kauaʻi: the Nāpali Coast, Hanalei Bay and its kalo fields, Spouting Horn, Wailua. Hawaiʻi Island: Kīlauea and Halemaʻumaʻu, Maunakea, ʻAkaka Falls, Punaluʻu black sand, Puʻuhonua o Hōnaunau, Lapakahi, ʻAhuʻena Heiau. Molokaʻi: Hālawa Valley, Pāpōhaku Beach. Lānaʻi: Kaiolohia. And Kahoʻolawe. Every piece is 3840 × 2160, so it fills the Frame with no border.
Hawaiian culture, not just the view
Dreamy Hawaiian Culture is twenty-seven pieces of the things my people do. Hula kahiko and hula ʻauana. Harvesting kalo in the loʻi and pounding it, kuʻi ʻai. Making lei. Beating wauke for kapa and weaving lauhala. Shaping the waʻa, the solo paddler, casting the ʻupena, the spearfisher, the diver. Striking the pahu. Heʻe hōlua, the sled. Hiʻiaka at Kīlauea. The huakaʻi pō at Nuʻuanu Pali. Inside the barrel. These are the ones I am proudest of.
